In August 2009, James was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame for his contribution to the rich history and heritage of music in the great state of Louisiana.
The governor’s official statement reads:
“In the name and by the authority of the state of Louisiana, I, Bobby Jendal, together with the people of this state, hereby give special recognition to James Burton. In acknowledgement of your induction to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and your contribution to the rich history and heritage of music in the great state of Louisiana.”
